But thank you for finding the keyboard shortcut. It then shows the folder hierarchy, just as the proxy icon in tip number 3 does. Which means I need to open the current folder's parent folder in a new window. Note that this is also the quickest way to get to the Desktop folder… just keep hitting Alt+Up until you get to the right folder.
